Suggestion to differentiate links[edit source]
Currently, links to articles both internal and external links (in this case, to Wikipedia) look exactly the same. This gives readers no way to differentiate between the two (especially when viewing on mobile) so that they know beforehand whether the link they are clicking will take them off of the site or not. In order to help combat this, as well as to help editors identify which links might need updating once an internal article has been made, I was thinking that {{Wiki}} could be tweaked slightly with the following code:
[[wikipedia:{{{1}}}|{{{2|{{{1}}}}}}<sup>{{C|W}}</sup>]]
Using the "Royal Air Force" as an example, this would present any links leading to Wikipedia like this: Royal Air Force(W) (assuming the exact placement of my code is correct). It's a minor change which, in my personal opinion, doesn't really mess with the flow of the text but would both readers and editors greatly. I was thinking a difference in font or colour of the link would be more appropriate. While I agree, the (W) is a little bit obnoxious to my taste. What do you think about that? -- Master Sima Yi Talk 19:06, March 18, 2017 (UTC)
I was personally a little unfavorable to the idea, if only because I agree that the (W) is a little bit obnoxious, and I'm not too convinced of the necessity. However, if it is a difference in font color, as I know some other wikis use, I think it'd be a good idea. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 19:16, March 18, 2017 (UTC)
