Name of the article[edit source]

If they were 'more commonly known as' Jacobin Club, why is the article named Jacobins? Sadelyrate (siniath) 08:26, April 18, 2019 (UTC)

Because there is a memory call The Jacobin Club.Francesco75 (talk) 09:19, April 18, 2019 (UTC)

But with the sects of the Cult of Kosmos, the differentiation's been made: the article about the sect in question is called, say, Eyes of Kosmos, but the memory of said sect's hunt and destruction is called The Eyes of Kosmos. Sadelyrate (siniath) 09:21, April 18, 2019 (UTC)
Hmm, my take is that it's probably because it's based on and followed the actual Wikipedia title, which is listed as simply Jacobin instead. Looking at the edit history, it was first created as just 'Jacobin', but then moved to 'Jacobins' instead. The organization has a number of names, but since Jacobins is a much more simplified term, I guess they just stick to that. XOdeyssusx (talk) 09:32, April 18, 2019 (UTC)
Given Jacobin is akin to, say, Janissaries, I suggest that the name be changed to singular (Jacobin) or collective plural (Jacobin Club). Sadelyrate (siniath) 10:43, April 19, 2019 (UTC)
To be exact, the most proper name for the article would probably be that of the organization name. However, the reason why it is at 'Jacobins' is probably to be consistent with 'Assassins' and 'Templars' which incidentally should technically be titled 'Assassin Brotherhood' and 'Templar Order' instead. As I understand, they are titled the way they are due solely to tradition; those were the original titles for those pages, based off of how in the earliest days of Assassin's Creed game databases tended to title entries on groups of people using the demonyms of their group in plural. Personally, I'm fine moving all three pages to their organization names, but I'm not sure that the other staff would be okay with that. On a side-note, Wikipedia has a common name policy for their articles which is fitting for an encyclopedia based entirely on the real-world, but this is generally not the policy for wikis on fictional universes for a wide host of reasons that would take an essay to explain.
