Yes, I witnessed this bug right outside of Tuscany. I was standing by a White Sheet box leading onto Tuscany's wall, and suddenly this fat NPC comes up, and Free Runs right up that building, like nothing. Vaulting[edit source]

You cannot Vault in Assassins Creed 2 ive tried unless it uses a different control combo then AC1 it doesnt work Auditor(e) 20:41, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

You can Vault in Assassins Creed II, if you jump from one side of a well (inside) from another he will Vault instead of grabbing the other side. There are a few other examples, you could call it an Easter Egg if you like. ~Finch 16:23, October 10, 2011 (UTC)

Free running moves[edit source]

I don't think that the moves necessarily have to come from the parkour discipline. Freerunning is described in the animus as the ability to freely go (almost)anywhere, hence 'free' and 'run'

The animus also has the moveset:

Free-Stepping - To jump from one location to another, or, in some cases, ledges or beams.

Wall-Running - to run up a wall(obviously)

Climbing - refers to all manners of moving on vertical surfaces

Swinging - using a pole to swing forward to land on the ground or any adjacent object.

It's just that the french-named moves don't seem kinda appropriate when the in-game animus already mentions the moveset. Besides, if the Assassins invented free-running, then it should probably mention that parkour is derived from it.Soviet SPETSNAZ


I am a Traceur and I had always thought that the assassins were using parkour and freerunning..
The challenges Ezio performs with the theives and the races, these are for showing off (to beat another's record), because there is no real need for it. The parkour on the other hand, is anything that is used to save a person or take out a target as it is necessary (for an assassin) to perform these movements efficiently. Therefore, giving the nature of the game, I would have to say that Parkour is the most dominant form of movement used throughout the game as free-running shows alot more of the non-efficient, show-off movements which are not seen within the game.
i.e:
Back and Forward Flips (especially when moving down stairs or from other heights)
Hand Plants and Palm Spins
Jumps with 360 spins and land/grab ledges..
and so on.
In game example of Parkour use instead of FR:
Instead of Ezio using a palm spin when running straight at a wall, he runs up it and kicks off it to change direction 180.. I know that some practitioners will argue that the above mentioned techniques can be used for FR too (even I use them), but they are for trainning puposes or messing around. Yes I would agree with most of what you said Subject AMDR, as I am a practitioner in the art of Freerunning. But Parkour and Freerunning are so very similar one cannot be selected over the other in this case, as it varies with what the player of the game is doing. Parkour is all about getting from point A, to point B as quickly and efficiently as possible. So this will involve no flips or flashy moves as they slow the Traceur, but Assassin's Creed does not have this so it doesn't matter. So if the player of the game is trying to get to a desired destination, main memory or just a marked location, the form of movement will be known as Parkour. And also Parkour will be used for the Thieve's challenges (Races). Freerunning is just freely roaming the environment in any way desired. This may involve flips of any sort and climbing anything possible. So Freerunning will take place when there is no set destination and the player just wants to scale buildings and search the surrounding area. So really, there is no difference in the movements of these two disciplins, just the reason it is being put to action. :) Grim Leaper19 08:21, April 26, 2011 (UTC)

Brotherhood Horse Jump[edit source]

Maybe we should add a video for the bit that describes the jump from a horse to a beam. It's kinda hard to explain and there are 3 variations...

Naming[edit source]

Is this not Parkour. As Freerunning is when you do flips and other acrobatics while parkour is just getting over the obstacles.

Please read the article. First point under Trivia: "Though referred to as "freerunning" throughout the Assassin's Creed series, the Assassins' focus on speed and efficiency, rather than creativity, more closely resembled standard Parkour." =GuardDog 14:57, July 17, 2012 (UTC)

Corner Swing[edit source]
