Pirates versus ninja[edit source]

The assassins from the last couple of games does have abilities similar to ninjas but are not refered to as such. The same thing applies to sailing a ship.

Aquila's Class[edit source]

I begin to wonder what class is the Aquila, after some research I found that the Aquila Could be a hybrid of a brig and a frigate

It is quite difficult because of its rigging (Brigs have two masts) , number of decks (Brigs usually have one deck, Frigates have three decks but also have three masts)

also i have noted from the video The Aquila has studding sails which are the ones that can fold in and out from the main sail to increase speed LordHighSubtitute (talk) 12:41, October 6, 2012 (UTC)

Could she be a brigantine (aka hermaphrodite brig) or a brig sloop? Zero-G Mako (talk) 01:32, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

I remember reading in the database something about it being a schooner, but I can't remember clearly. I'll add the info from the database tonight, when I go on the game Eggy2504 (talk) 08:39, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

It's a Frigate. Using the British standard its falling between a sixth rate ship (due to the masts) and a fifth rate ships (due to armaments). Judging by the model on the page it looks to carry around 40 guns (going by deck 8/8, 8/8, 4/4). Neither Sloops nor Brigs would carry so many cannons (I think tops 24 cannons).Zaggs (talk) 17:05, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

Just thought I'd add some comments on the ship here. To address specific comments: Frigates do not have three decks. First and Second Rates have 3 decks, and First Rates have 100+ guns. Third and Fourth rates have two gun decks. All of the above fall in to a category known as Ships of the Line, while a frigate would be known as a Fifth or Sixth rate and would have one and sometimes two gundecks, but the latter was very rare by this time period with most frigates having one gundeck (Take a look at the USS Constitution for a large fifth rate frigate, or the replica ship used for the Surprise in Master and Commander for a small sixth rate frigate). From her role, though, she is closer to a frigate. She could be close to brigantine rig, but she's far too large with one too many gundecks. The rigging is as a topsail schooner with a gaff rig on the mains, which was very common but not at all appropriate for a ship of this size. Simply put, it's not a real rig or a real type of ship. A ship of that size with two gun decks would have three masts, ship rigged (square sails top to bottom with triangular sails only on the stays, and the only gaff on the mizen). The topsail schooner rig is entirely innapropriate for a ship of that weight, as well as just the two masts. When it comes down to it, the vessel appears to be a fifth rate trying to be a fourth rate trying to be a schooner. It's far too under-rigged for its size or over-gunned for its rig.

tl;dr: It's not real, so it'll do no good to shoehorn it into something that was real.

Aquila color schemes[edit source]

I noticed that the articles mentions that there are different color schemes available for the Aquila, but I haven't found a way to switch between them in-game. is it something that shows up in the ledger by the harbormaster only once you have another available? Zero-G Mako (talk) 21:54, November 3, 2012 (UTC)

Same with being able to take her out between missions - did that even make it into the final game? Zero-G Mako (talk) 07:24, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

I have yet to find out how to change the color of the Aquila, and I have in fact checked the harbormaster... nothing. Supreme Master AssassinO Mentoras 17:15, November 14, 2012 (UTC)

When i downloaded the DLC it said additional colors for the Aquila available, so it wasnt removed. Animeman7890 (talk) 12:07, January 1, 2013 (UTC)

its not the colour scheme that changes its just the flags:

How It got wrecked[edit source]

The Animus database says it was wrecked by a storm while chasing a templar ship. Could it be the ship chasing the chasing the Providence is the Aquila?

User:LordHighSubtitute/Nemo me impune lacessit 16:49, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

That would be my guess. That and Haytham's sail to the New World both happened in 1754. It's heaaavily implied that these are the same. StPerkele (talk) 01:52, November 29, 2012 (UTC)

No free roam?[edit source]

First off, props to the developers for making this masterpiece apart from the (SPOILERS) crap revolving around Connor's hood, it was a good game. However, I thought I heard from several sources that there would a be a free roam aspect to the naval part of the game. I swore I heard Alex Hutchinson mention something about that during the Eurogamer conferance. Maybe they're saving it for DLC, but the odds don't favor that. I thought it was a poor decision to leave that out. Wouldn't it be cool if we could free roam in the carribean and take down randomly spawned enemy ships; it's a little unfair to have to spend so much money upgrading the Aquila why don't they let us use it for as much tiem as we want? Ubisoft does state that they listen to fan feeback. Maybe we should petition?TheSmallLebowski (talk) 06:55, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

How have you tried getting back to it? Because I hear there is a dock for it at the Homestead, I don't have the game yet btw so...careful with spoilers. Lucan07Haunt me...and Stuff 06:57, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

She does dock at the homestead, but there's no difference between there (in terms of player options) and the city ports - you can fast travel between cities and the frontier, but you can't go to the non-harbor fast travel points (despite being able to do so from in-game map at any time) or you can upgrade her. Now, there arepeg leg missions, 4-ish story missions and some privateer contracts that you access from that fast travel screen, but they can only be done once. They let you spend upwards of $100k (might be 200k-300k, haven't actually done the math) on her and then give you 12-18 very short missions with her and that's it. Zero-G Mako (talk) 16:02, November 5, 2012 (UTC)

I really believe they have something planned for it with the DLC; why would they make pay that much money for it if you're only going to be able to play a handful of missions with it? Ubisoft has to be smarter than that!24.22.124.18 00:28, November 6, 2012 (UTC)

Pronoun[edit source]

I have been editing the pronoun of this article for awhile but because it keeps changing I would like to say that Ships And Planes are called "she" for some reason. Now I would like to inform everyone of this and that is all User:LordHighSubtitute/Nemo me impune lacessit 10:58, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

I've seen ten [1] different reasons for the practice, most of which mention that it's because it costs so much to keep ships in "paint and powder" (the practice is REALLY old, mind you), but it is a European and American exclusive practice. Russia and Arab Asia tend to refer to their ships as "he". Zero-G Mako (talk) 19:59, December 7, 2012 (UTC)

Aquila chased Providence[edit source]

I don't know if this theory is well known or not, but I post it anyways. In the database entry, it says that Aquilla went down in a storm after chasing a templar ship in 1754. Thats the year that you play as Haytham onboard the Providence, and you are chased by an assasin ship, that go down in a storm. Is that ship the Aquila, or not. What are people's thoughts? Overlord Divine (talk) 14:03, December 7, 2012 (UTC)

it may be somewhat known Zero-G Mako (talk) 20:02, December 7, 2012 (UTC)

Source for the pursuit of Providence[edit source]

Where is the source that states that it was the Aquila that chased the Providence in 1754? I'm almost certain that it wasn't mentioned in Forsaken or III. --Crimson Knight Intercom 21:11, May 3, 2013 (UTC)

Aquila's database entry. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 21:23, May 3, 2013 (UTC)
I'm willing to accept that it's incredibly likely that it was in fact the Aquila, but the Atlantic Ocean is quite large, and I'm sure that there were many Templar ships crossing during that year, and perhaps just as many Assassins pursuing them; a number of them likely being damaged. The Aquila is just one of an almost unlimited number of possibilities when it comes to the ship that we saw in 1754. I fail to see how this isn't speculation. --Crimson Knight Intercom 21:59, May 3, 2013 (UTC)
Because 1 and 1 make 2, and you don't need to be told that you're eating an apple to know you're eating an apple. And, frankly, there really would not have been a lot of instances of Assassin ships following Templar ships into a storm in the year 1754, and those Assassin ships being damaged. -- Master Sima Yi Talk 22:05, May 3, 2013 (UTC)

The Aquila and the Providence[edit source]

So let me get this straight, the ship that chased the Providence was the Aquila? I always thought it was just some privateer ship. So that means Weems was a good guy? PatriotJager150 (talk) 03:31, June 14, 2013 (UTC)PatriotJager150

Aquila vs. Jackdaw[edit source]

Hey, if the Aquila went to do so many Privateer Contracts in the Carribbean, how come the Aquila and Jackdaw never met? 98.250.218.196 00:25, June 26, 2013 (UTC)PatriotJager150

Because both are Assassin vessels for one, and secondly Ed's been dead for at least three to four decades before Connor took over captaincy of the Aquila and did the privateer contracts. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 00:50, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

Northeast passage[edit source]

Does anybody here know how much time the Ghost Of The North Seas took to reach the Northeast Passage starting from the Davenport Homestead?

I know that Haytham's journey to the New World took at least one month and the Animus says so. —Preceding unsigned comment was added by Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk · contr) 01:25, July 30, 2013 (UTC)

First, it's Northwest, not Northeast.
Second, Haytham's trip lasted 72 days, that's over 2 months.
Third, we don't know how long it took to reach it.
Fourth, get yourself a proper damn signature. --Kainzorus Prime Walkie-talkie 02:14, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
First, sorry for the mistake, always confuses me with some other multi-player map.
Second, I only remember seeing 'Day 28' in the Animus 3.0. So, sorry.
Third, then where is it mentioned in Rat's article?
Fourth, I do not think so.

—Preceding unsigned comment was added by Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk · contr) 11:17, July 30, 2013 (UTC)

Why not just say "the Aquila? I'd forgotten that it was nicknamed the "Ghost of the North Seas" and couldn't answer your question when it was asked.
The amount of time taken is not mentioned in the game or his article. See here. And finally, I have to agree with Primus. I find your signature is strange and confusing. --Crimson Knight Intercom 11:28, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I just asked it out of curiosity. Well then, I don't think even Forsaken doesn't mention the time. Better not to talk about the sig. story. —Preceding unsigned comment was added by Altaïr Skywalker 47 (talk · contr) 11:34, July 30, 2013 (UTC)
