Sannomiya Shrine

Sannomiya Shrine was a Shinto shrine located in northern Sumoto in Awaji, Japan.
History[edit | edit source]
In 1585, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke arrived at the shrine after learning that Nowaki, a Japanese Templar and a taishō (大将, lit. "general") under fellow Templar Kimura Yukari, visits the shrine every morning. Waiting for the next morning, the pair saw Nowaki walk towards the mine and confronted her. While Nowaki readied her smoke bomb, they spoke about her sister and then showed Nowaki her sister's Templar cross. Challenging her to a duel for the cross, the pair readied to attack her but Nowaki stopped them and told them to follow her before heading east of the shrine. Chasing after Nowaki, they followed her in pursuit.[1]
Later, Naoe and Yasuke also paid their respects at two of its smaller shrines and later climbed atop a cliff above the shrine and surveyed the land below them.[2]
