A robe is a loose-fitting outer garment. Unlike a cloak, which is typically draped over shoulders to cover the back, a robe is generally sleeved and dressed for the whole body.
Robes have been a common form of attire for humans throughout their history and are diverse in function and design. In particular, the uniform of the Assassins have invariably taken the form of robes with beaked hoods despite evolving across millennia with the local fashion of the period and society. Other robes include those worn by scholars and priests, such as Christian monks. [citation needed] In the 12th century, the similarity between the white robes of Assassins and those of Christian and Islamic scholars even offered individual Assassin agents a means of infiltrating areas off-limits to them because they could easily blend in with their groups.[1]
