Pitcairn-Putnam Pistols

Jump to search

The Pitcairn-Putnam Pistols were a pair of 18th century pistols previously owned by John Pitcairn, until his horse was shot from under him after the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The pistols then ended up in the hands of Israel Putnam, who subsequently passed them on to Ratonhnhaké:ton following the Battle of Bunker Hill.[1]
Arno Dorian was able to acquire a replica of the pistol during the French Revolution.[2]

| This pair of Scottish ram’s-head-butted pistols is an exact copy of the ones found at Lexington. They bear the coat-of-arms of the Crosbie family, although it is believed the original pistols have belonged to Major John Pitcairn who lost them when his horse was shot from under him in the heat of the battle. They were later given to Gen. Israel Putnam. | ||||
