A parrying dagger paired with the Small-hilted Sword

A parrying dagger is a small weapon held in the off-hand for defensive purposes and used in conjunction with a larger sword.

History[edit | edit source]

In the 1st century BCE, the Medjay and eventual Hidden One Bayek of Siwa wielded a number of parrying daggers alongside his swords, though he usually preferred the combination of a sword and shield.[1] In the 9th century, the Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq favored the use of swords and parrying daggers and dual-wielded both during his missions in Baghdad.[2]

During the Seven Years' War, the Assassin-turned-Templar Shay Cormac paired parrying daggers with his main weapon, dual-wielding both during combat. While at times impractical, these daggers shared a common aesthetic with the swords they were paired with.[3]
