The Old Lincoln Sewers was a network of old Roman sewer tunnels built beneath the city of Lincoln in England. Following the exodus of the Roman troops from Britannia in the early 5th century, the tunnels came to be home to a group of smugglers and bandits under the leadership of Lucian in the 9th century.

Circa 875. a group of Mercian nobles paid the bandits to use the tunnels to smuggle the gravely-ill ealdorman Hundbeorht out of the city, in an attempt to keep his upcoming death a secret. While the bandits initially agreed to the deal, they attacked the nobles following their exit to the Roaring Meg's Spring, after they refused to pay them double of the amount. This resulted in a blood bath, although Hundbeorht was able to leave the sewers and cave unharmed.[1]

Some time later, the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir came to explore the tunnels after learning of the passage from a healer in the nearby hospice.[1] While exploring the tunnels, Eivor clashed against the bandits, recovering a longbow and a nickel ingot the process.[2] After exiting the tunnels, Eivor came across the aftermath of the fight between the bandits and the nobles, investigating on her own to find out the trail of the ealdorman.[1]
