Manetho
Manetho was an Egyptian priest and historian who lived during the 3rd century BCE. He was known for being the author of the work Aegyptiaca or History of Egypt, which contained the chronology of the reigns of the pharaohs of Egypt. In his work, Manetho documented the reign of Sneferu, who ordered the Meidum Pyramid, the Bent Pyramid, the Red Pyramid built to hide an artifact in each of them. These artifacts, when placed in the pyramidion at the tip of the Red Pyramid, would unlock the secrets of the pharaoh.[1]
In the 1st century BCE, Manetho's documentation of Sneferu's secrets caught the interest of Merkes, an Egyptian scholar who would later enlisted the help of the Medjay, Bayek, to solve the mystery in 48 BCE. They eventually discovered Sneferu's secret to be a vault which contained a pyramidion model and various Old Kingdom scrolls.[1]
