An artistic depiction of the Old Norse word kið

Old Norse vocabulary is deeply woven into the English spoken today.

For example, the Old Norse word for village, "býr", still ends the names of many towns like Derby. The word "plough", used in farming, comes from the Norse word "plógr". The word "kið", seen here, meant "young goat" in Old Norse; today, it refers to both young goats and young humans.

These are only a few examples of the many Viking words still in use today.
