Ka'b ibn Zuhayr

Ka'b ibn Zuhayr was a 7th century Arabian poet and a contemporary of the prophet Muhammad.

Ka'b gained fame for his Bānat Suʿād, a qasida in praise of the prophet. After presenting the poem to Muhammad, the prophet was moved by the verse that he removed his mantle and wrapped it around Ka'b, which was considered a great honor. Ka'b's poem was later on compiled into the Jamharat Ash'ar al-Arab, which the 9th century Alamut Hidden One Tabid Al-Nubi obtained a copy of. He sought to share the book and the poem to his Mentor Fuladh Al Haami and recite the verses to him and friends.
