Kōfuku-ji

Kōfuku-ji is a Buddhist temple in Yamato, Japan.

History[edit | edit source]

In 1582, the Kakushiba ikki members Fujibayashi Naoe and Yasuke traveled to the temple after determining the peace talks were a pivotal point between the Tsutsui and Akiyama clans. While Naoe stealthily looked around for any clues, Yasuke joined the peace talks. While Yasuke spoke with Hara Joken, Tsutsui Junkei, and Akiyama Ayako about peace, Naoe discovered a plan to instigate a civil war by assassinating Junkei with a shooter wearing Akiyama armor. Immediately, Naoe ran to find the shooter and killed him before he could kill Junkei.[1]

Immediately, Akayo and Junkei accused each other of breaking the peace talk's terms while Yasuke intervened to state that there is another reason. Soon, Kojiro appeared behind the samurai and influenced Yasuke to throw his tantō at Joken, who caught it and revealed his nature. With his true nature revealed, Joken ordered his men to kill them all while he escaped. Fortunately, Naoe and Yasuke defeated his men and chased Joken to a shrine behind the temple. There, they fought against the abbot and ultimately killed him. From Joken's personal effects, they recovered a kusarigama Winds of War[1] and a tea set.[2]

At some point, Naoe and Yasuke returned to the temple and recovered three lost pages scattered around the temple.[3] Through the inspection, they also recovered a calligraphy set for Niwa Nagahide's collection of valuable objects.[4] There, Naoe also climbed atop a pagoda in the southeastern part of the temple and surveyed the land.[3]
