Ghastly Echoes

The Ghastly Echoes was a kusarigama that Fujibayashi Naoe obtained in 1582. That year, Naoe and fellow Kakushiba ikki member Yasuke were tasked by Mamushi with examining the rumors of yōkai throughout Japan. During their investigation in Yamato, they arrived at Nara Heartland, where they discovered a crying woman who soon attacked them. Bested in combat, the woman regained her composure, and admitted that she thought they were her husband's killer, before apologizing for the affair and gifting them the weapon.
