Cyrenians vs. Cyreneans[edit source]
Both Wiktionary and Free Dictionary agree that the term in 'Cyrenian', not 'Cyrenean'. That's why I used 'Cyrenian'.Sadelyrate (siniath) 05:49, September 18, 2018 (UTC)
- I would argue that it is an alternative version of Cyrenean, meaning both works. However, since we sort of following the Wikipedia standard, which most, if not all, uses Cyreneans, I think it would be best if we follow that way. XOdeyssusx (talk) 09:43, September 18, 2018 (UTC)
- Wikipedia also uses Cyrenian. Simon of Cyrene, Silphium, Hellenistic Judaism, Saint Stephen, Synagogue of the Libertines, to mention just a couple of the many, many articles where that's the preferred version. [
- Funny thing about all this is that, according to Wikipedia, 'Cyrenean' is not the right demonym. Sadelyrate (siniath) 10:08, September 18, 2018 (UTC)
- I was the one who told Odeyssus to use "Cyrenean" after he first consulted with me. Perhaps I was too hasty. Honestly Cyrenian looks really awkward to me and would not be what I'm used to, but it would seem that both are valid. We should note that Greek place names almost always have multiple variations of spelling due to differences in methods of transliteration. Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 11:59, September 18, 2018 (UTC)
