I actually don't think this is a bad idea. However, I think there might be cases where certain media overlap in their timelines. For example off the top of my head, Assassin's Creed the film and Assassin's Creed II: Discovery both are set in the Spanish Inquisition. This might be the only instance of it though now that I think of it.
