Naruto is a far more idealistic series, yet somehow the themes really come back together to be so starkly similar.
Indeed it is. I don't like the series at all, but I must admit that the concepts it uses to tell stories and the "we must love each other and understanding stuff" idea it's cool. Naruto is the main inspiration of a fanfic I'm working on.

I think Madara and Obito are more like Templars than Sasuke though since their solution to peace was through control and illusions, whereas Sasuke's revolution idea seemed to revolve more about uniting the world through their hatred of him, which is a slightly different theme.
I believe Madara is more like Juno, because his Infinite Tsukuyomi is just like The Grey: One is a dream world while the other is a digital world where we find "happiness". Difference is that in the first we will ultimately die and in the second we'll live forever just like Juno but both eliminates the physical world to prevent wars and social chaos.
Obito is more like a Templar being used by Madara. When I discovered that Rin's death was part of his plan... I wanted to kill Madara haha. Dude, that was AWFUL! S**t... But now that I think about it... Obito is more like a member of the Instrument of the First Will. Yeah, that's better.
Sasuke's revolution and his wish of destroying that ninja system is more like a Templar becoming a demi-god to watch over humanity.

The idea of both a ninja and an Assassin is to endure suffering as a self-sacrifice to fight for humanity. Also Itachi has a profound line about truth, illusions, and preconceptions that echo the Assassin maxim a lot.
I consider myself a Templar *cough* roleplay *cough* and this is the first time that I agree with the Assassin's Ideology... self-sacrifice. With a Templar Civil War incoming (thanks to Alan's death and Simon's benevolent Templar point of view), they'll see that being a Templar also means self-sacrifice... even the willingly relinquishment of our humanity.
