To answer your other question, I quite like knowing who I'm aiming for at the start. It gives a sense of purpose and anticipation. It was years ago, but I was very excited to eliminate the Borgia when I started Brotherhood. I don't mind late-story plot twists though.

Have they? Let's see:

  • Assassin's Creed - Robert de Sablé
  • Assassin's Creed II - Rodrigo Borgia/Alexander VI
  • Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - Cesare Borgia
  • Assassin's Creed: Revelations - Ahmet, I guess? Revelations was all over the place.
  • Assassin's Creed III - Haytham? I guess this is the first fictional main antagonist.
  • Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag - Black Bart? Laureano de Torres y Ayala? The plot of IV doesn't really have a main antagonist through the most part, I guess.
  • Assassin's Creed: Rogue - Achilles as the second fictional antagonist.
  • Assassin's Creed: Unity - Germain.
  • Assassin's Creed: Syndicate - Starrick marks the main games' third fictional antagonist.

Huh. They really have.

Also, yeah, it's good to know your antagonist before going through their people. It feels like you're making progress and doing something to their organization, unlike say II where it feels like you're hacking away at a conspiracy with infinite people and no end in sight.
