DC and Marvel are not the only companies who do reboots, they happen all the time. Tomb Raider and Castlevania were rebooted recently and they haven't been around for 80 years. I'm not saying that it would be rebooted the same way Marvel and DC do their reboots or for the exact same reasons. For example, say after the Assassins and Templars unite and defeat Juno and the Instruments of The First Will or some s*** like that. Then Ubisoft might decide to reboot the franchise, but in this new continuity they'll still make Altair's, Ezio's, Connor's, Edwards, Shay's and Arno's stories canon and say for example they could get rid of the Sages and the Instruments of The First Will in the storyline. They could reduce the numbers of POEs or just make sure there are only 5 different types of POEs. They could make Arno or Shay an ancestor of Desmond or they could introduce that Desmond has a little a sister or a child. They could get rid of Eagle Vision/Sense or change its characteristics or replace it with something else which is similar. They could implement some stuff from the modern day french comics into the storyline. They could get rid of Helix and just remain with the Animus etc.

I'm not saying the reboot will be to the same level as how Marvel and DC do it but it just could be several minor things. I'm also not saying that we play as Altair and Ezio again as that would be more of a remake than reboot of the franchise.
