The following page is an apprentice assignment page, which acts as a connection between the Apprentice, Odranoelluta, and their Mentor, Amnestyyy. It exists as an external talk page, aimed at dealing with all aspects of the apprenticeship. Only the above mentioned users and the staff have permission to converse here. Any outside interference will result in an immediate ban from the wiki.
For your new, real first task, you have to revamp the Forlì page. It contains a lot of information that needs to be reformatted and rewritten. Here are the main focuses for this revamp:
Reformat page to be in line with the Manual of Style and look like other city, location articles. The Venice article can provide some help with formatting, but do not go as in-depth as that article does.
Fix references to be cleaner and be more "together."
Remove any unnecessary or poor quality or badly formatted images. You can replace them with better images or not.
Add some high quality, good images to either the gallery or the article body. It's up to you.
Clean up the Trivia, Gallery, Landmark, and Assassination Target sections. You can format them like the Venice article does.
Well, that's your work. Remember to ask for help if you need it, and look at good city articles if you're in doubt or unsure. Also, remember to give me updates and keep me in the loop about your work here, and not on my talk page or anything. Thanks. --NostalgiaLet’s talk. 16:52, March 27, 2012 (UTC)
Hey Master Nos, just wanted to inform you that I think I've finished this assignment. I wasn't sure if I should replace the present article with my edited one so I've only edited in my sandbox. Here is a log of things I've added/changed:
I've changed the body of the article so that it doesn't have a "Database entries" section but a "History" part with different ages.
I've added photos/pictures to both the body and Gallery section.
I've added a couple of Trivia but removed the first trivia point in the existing article as I thought it was irrelevant.
I've edited and added references.
I've expanded on the "Landmarks" section too.
Well, that's it. Thanks.--OdranoellutaTalk 12:58, March 30, 2012 (UTC)
Alright, the article looks good. Here is my feedback:
Remember to edit the article one last time solely for spelling and grammar. I found a lot of small, spelling errors that you could have caught had you rechecked it one last time.
Reference tags are not needed for an article like this with basically only one source. When it only has one source, create a "Source" section like I did with just the link to the source.
When capitalizing section and article titles, only capitalize proper nouns (Venice, Third Crusade, Templars, etc.)
The reference/source section should always be the last section, behind everything else.
Images are not really needed for sections like trivia or landmarks.
Make sure the trivia section is trimmed and more worthwhile. I found a lot of excess, irrelevant information there.
Well, those are basically my comments. Overall, you did a good job with the article, and have earned yourself a promotion, which you'll see in one of those userboxes of yours. I'll post a new assignment soon. Good work, Apprentice. --NostalgiaLet’s talk. 13:32, March 31, 2012 (UTC)
Your next assignment, Carnevale, requires a lot of expansion. It's currently a very bad quality article, so a good amount of editing needs to be done in addition to the necessary expansion. Your focuses are:
Edit all OOU/poorly written content and bring it up to a good standard. There should not be any, "...the Carnevale..."
Expand on the opening section to give some information on what Carnevale was like. Be formal and professional (not that you wouldn't :P), don't just list it as something with a lot of fireworks and people.
Create a history section detailing some of the Renaissance era things that happened during this event (Marco's assassination, etc.)
Clean up the Gallery and get rid of those bad images.
Clean up the Trivia and make it more clear and understandable.
Add more images. It's a beautiful event, so find some good ones.
Add proper references/sourcing.
Well, that's your work, Apprentice. This is still a popular, real-life event, so don't add much of that OOU. This assignment's more work, but I believe you can handle it since you faired so well with your first assignment. Good luck, Odranoelluta, and I'm here if you need any help. --NostalgiaLet’s talk. 13:58, March 31, 2012 (UTC)
Odranoelluta: Let me know when you think you are done, but before actually moving the assignment from your sandbox to the main space. I might have some additional things for you to fix before publishing. NestyContact me! 18:54, April 6, 2012 (UTC)
Amnestyyy: I think I'm done with the Carnevale assignment. I've not moved it to main space yet. Here's the list of things I've added/changed:
I've expanded on the opening section a bit and tried to make it as much OOU-free as I could.
Changed pics in the Gallery section and added a few pics in the body.
Expanded the body of the article with different sections including the "History" with different sub-sections.
Added a trivia and as I didn't know what could be changed in the existing points, they remain the same.
This assignment will deal with the revamp of the Ottomans page. As you may have noticed, the page is quite bare and stubby as it is now. Your job will be to revamp and expand the article.
Things that need to be done:
Expand the intro
Make a history section, describing their role in Revelations
Provide and insert proper images where needed. (For good images, check out the memory/timeline articles, or ask Vatsa)
If the article is long enough: provide it with a faction-infobox
spell checking when all else has been done.
I may put other stuff on this list when I see it needs to be done, but this is it for now.
You can work on this assignment in your sandbox (like you have done before) and let me know when you need any help. Also, if you manage to get the article to Good status, it will result in an immediate rank up. If not, I'll review the quality of your work and determine it then. That's all, and good luck. Your job will be to add the relevant events from the game to the corresponding Districts they occured in. This will test your knowledge of the game, as well as your ability to distinguish the important events on a larger scale. For example: Ezio visiting Sofia's shop is not important, because it had no impact on the city. The destructiong of the Great Chain, or the Riot at the arsenal gates, were important. If you have any questions, let me know. You should know where to find me by now. NestyContact me! 07:52, June 8, 2012 (UTC)
Side task 1 - Multiplayer sourcing - Complete[edit source]
Side Task 1 - Complete
This assignment involves the multiplayer characters from Revelations. Many of the articles are not properly sourced, having both a "source," a "external links," and a "See also" section.
It is up to you to check all the pages (i.e. Bombardier, Brigand, etc.) and make sure the sourcing is fixed. Good luck, and if you need help you know where to find me. NestyContact me! 15:19, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
Hey there, Odranoelluta, nice to meet you. I believe we've talked a little on the IRC, but here's a brief, basic introduction:
-Feel free to call me Nostalgia AC, Nostalgia, Nos, or anything else related to my name. Master's fine too, but you don't always need such a formal title.
-I completed an apprenticeship myself a little over a month ago, so I know the process and work and such of being an Apprentice.
Well, those are the very basics about myself. I'm looking forward to helping you out during your apprenticeship, so don't ever feel nervous about asking a question or asking for help. I'm here to support and mentor you, so asking good questions would really work to benefit you in the long run.
If you need help with an assignment and need to ask a question, post it in the comments section (if I'm not on the IRC) of that particular assignment and I'll attempt to reply as quickly as I can. I can also help you with any independent work you do (i.e. revamps outside of the apprenticeship), so feel free to ask for help about any of those things as well.
Also, with regards to your apprenticeship stuff, know that this page, the Pigeon Coop, deals with everything related to your assignments and work; the Progress Log is where other Staff members and I keep track of your completed work and post our comments and such.
Well, I hope this introduction helped as I believe I've covered a good bit of stuff, but as always feel free to ask questions. Just so that I know that you got here and are ready to begin your first assignment, please leave a brief (it can just be your signature if you want) message below. Thanks. NostalgiaLet’s talk. 01:00, March 21, 2012 (UTC)
This is just a brief message that includes my signature :)--OdranoellutaTalk 22:26, March 21, 2012 (UTC)
