Asklepieion

The Asklepieion was a temple complex in Balagrae dedicated to Asklepios, the Greek god of medicine, during the 1st century BCE. Melitta served as the priestess in charge of the temple around 47 BCE.

In 47 BCE, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa came to the temple in search of Praxilla's associate Crios, who worked as a water bearer in the temple. Reaching the second floor, Bayek found Crios standing near the edge of a window, under the effect of a relic used by Flavius Metellus.^[1] Around the same time, he also found one of the Papyrus Puzzles within the temple.^[2]
