That was some dark humor lol. Jones failed to get one of the oldest phrases ever, but don't you think it was "too" cruel for an Assassin? I mean, in Lineage, Giovanni was clearly depressed when he was forced to kill the Templar messenger, even though the messenger gave him a whooping.
