Pennsylvania is a state in the northeastern region of the United States, bordering New York, Ohio, and New Jersey. It was one of the thirteen colonies that claimed independence from Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War.

History[edit | edit source]

American Revolutionary War[edit | edit source]

The indigenous peoples of Pennsylvania include the Lenape and Shawnee. The former were forced to leave in an infamous deal known as the "Walking Purchase" with the sons of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania.[1] During the Seven Years' War, the two nations helped the French Army prevent the Braddock Expedition from capturing Fort Duquesne.[2]

At the start of the Revolutionary War, the Continental Congress convened in Philadelphia and signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776.[3] The Colonial Assassins contracted by Connor kept a watchful eye on Signatories journeying through the state, in case anyone sought to disrupt the proceedings by attacking them.[4]

By September 1777, the British Army led by William Howe advanced on Philadelphia, defeating the Continental Army at the Battles of Paoli and Germantown, though the Assassins tried to intervene and prevent further losses.[5][6] Philadelphia was occupied by the British, and the Congress relocated to York. George Washington was ordered to have the Continental Army establish their winter camp between the two locations, at Valley Forge.[7] The British eventually left Philadelphia that summer to regroup in New York City.[8]

Later, the Assassins discovered that the Continental Army officer George Dorrance, who was responsible for the displacement of several Iroquois villages, was affiliated with the Templars. They consequently assassinated him during the Battle of Wyoming in July 1778.[9]

At the beginning of 1781, the Pennsylvania Line threatened to mutiny. Connor recognized the high level of drinking during New Year's celebrations could increase dissent, and sent his recruits to blend with the crowd to encourage reaching a favorable pay settlement with their commanders.[10]

Modern times[edit | edit source]

In 1943, Assassins under the leadership of Boris Pash, with the aid of Nikola Tesla and the Templar John von Neumann, used the USS Eldridge in a Philadelphia shipyard to conduct Project Rainbow, hoping to utilize Die Glocke and an Apple of Eden to travel through time and prevent World War II. However, the experiment was ultimately a failure due to sabotage by the former Assassin Eddie Gorm.[11]

In 1985,[12] Abstergo Industries established a facility in Philadelphia, where they conducted experiments with the Animus to help them locate Pieces of Eden.[13] The facility was still operational by 2016.[14]
