Atelier Holbein
Atelier Holbein was the atelier of German Renaissance painter Hans Holbein the Elder, and his two sons, Ambrosius Holbein and Hans Holbein the Younger, in the city of Augsburg, Germany.
History[edit | edit source]
In May 1519, members of the local chapter of the Assassins visited Atelier Holbein as part of their search for the clues to the havens Leonardo da Vinci hid in the city.[1] At the atelier, At Atelier Holbein,[2] an Assassin spoke to Hans Holbein the Elder, who did not see eye to eye with Luther's views and claimed that he and his surviving son, Hans, had been "fighting" against the Reformation in their own way, slipping in their demands into some of their paintings.[3] Examining some of the completed paintings by the Holbein family more closely[4] led the Assassin to notice that a panel in the background of the Portrait of Bonifacius Amerbach showed some of the theses.[5] Greta, an illuminator who worked as an assistant to Holbein, overheard the dialogue and, having both recently finished her apprenticeship and a wish for adventure, offered to join the Assassin in their quest.[6]
