Aruna

The Aruna was a khopesh used by soldiers during Pharaoh Thutmose III's campaign against the Canaanite city of Megiddo in the 15th century BCE. Named for an ancient wadi (وَادِي lit, "valley"), the sword was lost in battle for over a millennium until it resurfaced in Egypt a millennium later in the 1st century BCE, when the Medjay Bayek of Siwa recovered the still-functional relic.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

The model of the Aruna, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins, was recycled as the model of the Ceremonial Khopesh, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, and its kind. The Aruna's design was also used for the blade of the Egyptian Relic in For Honor, another game by Ubisoft.
