Elsa Sjunneson
Elsa Sjunneson (born 1985) is an American speculative fiction writer, editor, media critic, and disability rights activist. She was the writer for Aconyte Books' published novel, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla – Sword of the White Horse.

Early life[edit | edit source]
Sjunneson was born in 1985 with congenital rubella syndrome, which resulted in her having hearing loss, cataracts in both eyes, and a heart defect. Designated as legally blind, Sjunneson requires the use of a prosthetic eye and bilateral hearing aids.[1]
In 2008, she graduated from Gonzaga University, with a bachelor's degree in history. While there, she worked to raise awareness for FACE AIDS. In 2011, she earned a master's degree in women's history from Sarah Lawrence College.[1]

She is an editorial staff member of Uncanny Magazine, and throughout 2019 won many awards, among which she is a Hugo Award and Aurora Award winner.[2]
Sjunneson was a writer for the Serial Box-serialized Marvel audio book, Jessica Jones: Playing with Fire. It ran for sixteen episodes from 28 May 2020 until 27 August.[3]
She published her debut memoir, Being Seen: One Deafblind Woman's Fight to End Ableism in October 2021.[2]
Assassin's Creed[edit | edit source]
In October 2021, Ubisoft announced several new novels, among them was the Assassin's Creed: Valhalla video game tie-in novel, Sword of the White Horse, taking place between the game's ending and the first downloadable expansion, Wrath of the Druids. Elsa Sjunneson was announced as the author, and together with editor Gwendolyn Nix, were interviewed together in the Assassin's Creed Stories livestream event by Daniel St. Germain.[4]
The plot summary for Sword of the White Horse was revealed in June 2022[5] and the novel was later released in April.[6]
