Akila was a personal servant of the pharaoh Cleopatra during the late 1st century BCE.

Biography[edit | edit source]

During Octavian's siege of Alexandria in 30 BCE, Akila witnessed a captured Roman spy being executed on Cleopatra's order. Akila turned away at the first sight of blood. Cleopatra then ordered that the spy's head be sent to Octavian as a message, before Akila confirmed that what the spy had said was true and that Octavian's army was closing in on the city.[1]

Later, while Cleopatra had her guard train her son Caesarion, Akila noticed a fire off in the distance. Caesarion theorized that it was a trap set by Octavian.[2] When Octavian's men were about to storm the palace, the Hidden One Amunet arrived and convinced Cleopatra to give up her resistance. Akila was tasked by Cleopatra to inform the Romans of their surrender and was thanked by the pharaoh for her loyal service before Cleopatra committed suicide with a vial of poison given to her by Amunet.[3]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]

Akila is a character created for the comic series, Assassin's Creed: Origins, a sequel to the video game of same name.

Akila's name is a variant of the Arabic name أكله (Aqila), meaning "intelligent, wise".
