The Cyrene Baths was a bathhouse situated in the Roman city of Cyrene during the 1st century BCE. Designed by the engineer Vitruvius, it was popular amongst the citizens of Cyrene.

In 47 BCE, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa climbed to the top of the building in order to impress Esiocles and some other children in the city. Reaching the rooftop, he performed a Leap of Faith into a haystack in front of the bathhouse.[1]
The baths were also the site of the murder of a Cyrenean official Paulus Aurelius. Though Sminthos, an acquaintance of Bayek, was arrested for the murder, Bayek freed him and infiltrated the baths in order to investigate.[2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
- The location of the Roman baths being in front of the Apollonion of Cyrene is relatively accurate.[3] However, these baths were built in 98 AD making their appearance in the game anachronistic.[4] The game also inaccurately states that they were designed by Vitruvius who lived more than a century before their construction.
