| This article is about the acolyte under Brother Quiescis in Canterbury. You may be looking for the resident of Ravensthorpe. |

Alwin was the acolyte of the monk Quiescis who lived in Canterbury. Because Quiescis adopted a strict vow of silence, Alwin often served as his interpreter for his words said through monastic signs.
In the 870s, Alwin and Quiescis encountered the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir during her time in the city. When asked to a flyting duel, Alwin accepted the challenged, acting as Quiescis's conduit for his words during the duel. The two eventually lost the challenge, with Eivor winning with her wager.[1]
