William Wickham (1761–1840) was an British spymaster.

Biography

Born in Yorkshire, Wickham originally took up law in Geneva, Switzerland,[1] before joining the army of King George III, where he attained the title of Lieutenant-General. During the French Revolution, he organized a spy network based in Switzerland and France to coordinate with French Royalists and combat the Terror. After the Thermidorian Reaction, he returned to England and died peacefully in 1840.[2]
