WikiLeaks is a non-profit organization founded in 2006, publishing previously secret government, corporate, and religious documents.

History

By 28 November, Abstergo Industries CEO Alan Rikkin became aware of the organization and the damaging potential it had. He sent a few emails to his security analyst Caroline Grey informing her of it and to ensure that their own network was secure.[1]

In early December, Shaun Hastings, a junior professor teaching a course that included the 1605 Gunpowder Plot, uploaded a letter that contained several confidential documents on the inner workings of the secretly Templar-led Abstergo Industries to the WikiLeaks website under the pseudonym "GuyFawkes". Some of the data Hastings leaked included several of Abstergo's purposefully secret divisions, as well as the identities of heads of confidential programs and further links between the company and several dangerous experiments. By 9 December, Rikkin became aware of the serious leaks and instructed Grey to capture Hastings.[1] Although briefly in Abstergo custody, Hastings would later be rescued and recruited by the Assassin Rebecca Crane. He would later recall his spreading of Abstergo information and his rescue to Desmond Miles two years later.[2]
