Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is a public square in Westminster, London, built around the Charing Cross junction. The name and square itself commorates the Battle of Trafalgar fought during the Napoleonic Wars, which was won by the British.
History
The square was formerly the site of a stable and carriage house for the monarchy. During the reign of George IV, the architect John Nash was tasked to redesign the square as an open space for the public. Over the course of the 19th century, improvements were further made, with the inclusion of fountaisn and statues to provide the square some embellishment.[1]
