Thomas Jefferson (13 April 1743 – 4 July 1826) was an American Founding Father who was the principal author of the United States Declaration of Independence (1776) and the third President of the United States (1801–1809).

The writers of Assassin's Creed III chose to emphasize on Jefferson's unusual dressing style as part of their plans to familiarise players with historical facts.
