- ―Tamir to Altaïr
Tamir is the first person Al Mualim orders Altaïr to assassinate. He is found in the poor district of Damascus. He is also the easiest target to kill silently, thus being the best way to get the achievement, Blade in The Crowd.
Description
Tamir is the largest weapons dealer in the land and does most of his business in the soul of the poor district of Damascus. He doesn't take kindly to people who insult him and isn't afraid to kill those who do.
At time that Altaïr was searching for him, Tamir had a shipment of weapons for an unknown client that was later revealed to be Robert de Sable (Grandmaster of the Knight Templars).
Death

Tamir is assassinated by Altaïr, during a meeting in the courtyard of the Souk Al-Sallah with a man filling out Robert's order. The man claims that he doesn't have enough time and enough men to fill out the order by the deadline. Tamir doesn't take kindly to that and calls him names, saying, "These are the kinds of excuses that I would expect from a lazy or incompetent man." Shortly after the man says that Tamir expects too much, Tamir gets angry and stabs and slashes the man to death and throws him in the fountain. He then tells the guard to leave him as a warning to other people.
Tamir then starts going around to street vendors in order to inspect their work, and Altaïr uses this chance to assassinate Tamir. In the cutscene that follows, Tamir claims that he is different from the rest of the death dealers and that his death had a higher meaning. This leaves Altaïr wondering what he could mean.
First Encounter
As Altaïr enters the Souk Al-Sallah, he sees Tamir entering the Souk from the north, accompanied by two of his guards and an old man, likely a blacksmith. He and the old man are arguing.
Tamir: The numbers change nothing! Your men have failed to fill the order, which means I have failed my client!
Blacksmith: We need more time!
Tamir: This is the excuse of a lazy or incompotent man! Which are you!?
Blacksmith: Neither!
Tamir: What I see says otherwise! Now tell me, what do you intend to do to solve this problem of ours? These weapons are needed now!
Blacksmith: I see no solution: the men work day and night, but your client requires so much, and the destination; it is a difficult route!
Tamir: Were it that you could produce weapons with the same skill as you produce excuses!
Blacksmith: I have done all I can.
Tamir: It is not enough!
Blacksmith: Then perhaps you ask too much.
Tamir: "Too much?" I gave you everything! Without me, you would still be charming serpents for coin! All I asked in return was you fill the orders I bring you, and you say I ask too much!? [Tamir spits in the man's face] You dare disrespect me!?
Blacksmith: Peace, Tamir. I meant no insult!
Tamir: Then you should have kept your mouth shut! [he slashes the man with a knife]
Blacksmith: No, stop!
Tamir: Stop? [laughes] I'm just getting started! [he stabs and slashes the screaming man multiple times] You came into my souk, stood before my men, and dared to insult me!? [punctuating every word with a stab] YOU-MUST-LEARN-YOUR-PLACE!
Tamir throws the blacksmith's corpse into a nearby fountain. One of his guards moves to remove it, but Tamir stops him.
Tamir: No, leave the body. [to the crowd at large] Let this be a lesson to the rest of you; think twice before you tell me something cannot be done. Now get back to work.
The crowd disperses. Tamir moves to inspect the surrounding workmen, while Altaïr moves into position for his strike.
Final Words

Altaïr: Be at peace.
Tamir: You'll pay for this. You and all your kind.
Altaïr: It seems you're the one who pays now, my friend. You'll not profit from suffering any longer.
Tamir: You think me some petty death dealer, suckling at the breast of war!? A strange target, don't you think? Why me, when so many others do the same?
Altaïr: You believe yourself different, then?
Tamir: Oh but I am, for I serve a far nobler cause than mere profit. Just like my brothers.
Altaïr: Brothers?
Tamir: Ah, but he thinks I act alone. I am but a piece, a man with a part to play. You'll come to know the others soon enough...they won't take kindly to what you've done!
Altaïr: Good. I look forward to ending their lives as well!
Tamir: Such pride. It will destroy you, child.
Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles
Another character named Tamir is seen in Assassin's Creed: Altaïr's Chronicles. Tamir is portrayed as a fat, rich, obsessed merchant who cares about nobody but himself. He is flushed out of his mansion by the player setting some oil barrels on fire. He then gives Altaïr some vital information, after which he is then killed.
