Ségdae
Ségdae was an Irishwoman and the mother of Bárid mac Ímair with Ímar.[1]
Biography[edit | edit source]
Ségdae met Ímar abandoned on the road to Clonfert and entered a relationship with him soon after. She travelled with him to "the land among the Danes" where she gave birth to Bárid.[1]
Circa 879, as her health deteriorated, Ségdae and Sadhbh, Bárid's wife, went on a pilgrimage to the Pyrenees, hoping the waters there would heal her.[2] When the waters successfully improved her condition, Ségdae and Sadhbh both wrote to Bárid, who they missed greatly, informing him of the miracle.[1][3]
