Arkas is the son of the god Zeus and the nymph Kallisto as well as the king of Arkadia in Greek mythology.

Within Smuggler's Forest in Arkadia was located a fort bearing his name. Built into older ruins, the fort was infiltrated by the Spartan misthios Kassandra during the Peloponnesian War.[1]

Trivia

  • The whole region of Arkadia was named after him.
