Aristomenes (died 7th century BCE) was a king of Messenia, celebrated for his struggle with the Spartans in the Second Messenian War.

Aristomenes originated from the town of Andania and later rose to become a general of the Messenian rebels. After his death, his spirit was said to haunt the mine and town, which had been taken over by the Spartans. In addition, the Valley of Aristomenes and a military camp in the region was named after him.[1]
