Skidbladnir Smida
Skidbladnir Smida was the forge, where Freyr's longship Skíðblaðnir was created, in eastern Svaladal, Svartálfaheimr.
History
In Eivor Varinsdottir's visions of Odin's time in Svartalfheim, the Æsir lord Havi discovered the forge in a middle of a lake under a constant storm and recalled the time Loki ordered a gift for Freyr after witnessing their other creations. As one of the presents he wanted to regain favor in Ásgarðr, Loki received the longship Skíðblaðnir from the blacksmiths. The ship was massive and constructed well enough to fit all of Asgard's best into combat. Its ability to shrink made it possible for Loki to give to Freyr, who was later pleased with his ship.[1]
