Sinis was a bandit who lived in the Isthmus of Poseidon in Greek mythology.
According to legends, Sinis occupied a road located between what later became the Sanctuary of Isthmia and the Port of Kechries. There, Sinis would torture unwary travellers who passed by the area and bend the trees to tie the travelers to them. He then released the trees which tore the travelers apart.[1]
Eventually, Sinis' misdeeds was discovered by the hero, Theseus, during his return to Athens, and he was slain.[1]
