Ardmel was a ringfort situated on the hills east of Lough Beg in Ulster, Ireland.
During the 9th century, Ardmel was a trading post specialized in trading honey that had been abandoned and taken over by bandits. Between 879 and 882, the shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir assisted Azar in clearing the ringfort of bandits and obtaining the deed poll to the site, allowing the re-establishment of the trade post connecting to Dublin.[1]
