SAVAK ( Persian: سازمان اطلاعات و امنیت کشور, National Intelligence and Security Organization ) was the Secret Police and Intelligence service, founded by Iran's king, Mohammad Reza shah Pahlavi in 1957 ( Shamsi : 1335 ) with the help of CIA and Mossad.

It disbanded in 1979, during the Islamic Revolution of Iran. It had nearly 60,000 agents in all. SAVAK has been described as Iran's 'most hated and feared institution' due to its practice of torturing and executing opponents of the Pahlavi regime.

In Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, it was revealed that the group was formed by the Templars to terrorize citizens and protect capitalist oil interests in Iran.
