Renato Auditore

Renato Auditore was the only known son of the Assassin Domenico Auditore and his wife, and an ancestor of Desmond Miles. Renato was aboard his father's ship when it was ransacked by pirates under the employ of the Knights Templar, who sought the Codex of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, which was in his father's possession.

After his mother's murder, Renato and his father were thrown from the vessel. The two managed to reach the shore alive, and the next day they happened upon the corpse of his mother. Traveling by land, they made their way to Florence, and Domenico rented a small room for his son by using Marco Polo's bank account, before he traveled to Venice to meet with his father and patron. Once his father had returned, Renato and Domenico adopted the name of "Auditore", impersonating a local noble, and were accepted as a part of the city's nobility.

Renato's father subsequently purchased and renovated what would later become the Villa Auditore in Monteriggioni, and he soon began to train for his life as an Assassin; slayer of the Knights Templar, just as his father, Domenico, was.

• Although never named in Assassin's Creed II, Renato (Italian, Portuguese and Spanish form of Latin Renatus, meaning "reborn") was named and identified as the grandfather of Giovanni Auditore da Firenze in the Abstergo Files that accompanied Assassin's Creed: Revelations Multiplayer campaign.
