Qattara Depression

The Qattara Depression (Arabic: منخفض القطارة‎‎ Munḫafaḍ al-Qaṭṭārah) is a geographical depression in the north-west region of Egypt. As the lowest point in the country, the depression was characterized by dried out lakes, ledges and oases.

In around 48 BCE, the Medjay Bayek travelled to the depression, where he discovered a stone circle formation designated for Osiris.

More than 2000 years later in 2017, Layla Hassan journeyed to the region on a mission to find an important ancient artifact but instead found the preserved mummies of Bayek and his spouse Aya in the Hotep Cavern.

Trivia

  • Due to Bayek and Aya's mummies being found here it is reasonable to assume that this was their final resting place.
