Praxiteles was an Athenian sculptor who flourished during the 4th century BCE. The most renowned of sculptors from Attika, he was the first to sculpt the nude female form in a life-size statue.

Some of his most creations included the a marble statue of Hermes holding an infant Zeus at the Temple of Hera in Olympia[1] and the statue of Artemis Brauronia at the Brauroneion in Athens.[2]
