Legend

Orpheus lost his love, Eurydice. Afterwards, according to legend, Orpheus was dismembered by a group of Thrakian women and his corpse was taken to the sea. His head and lyre reached the island of Lesbos, where the residents constructed a tomb for him in the southern region.

Trivia

• In some stories, Orpheus is counted among the Argonauts.
