Octavia
Octavia (Latin: Octavia Minor; 69 BCE – 11 BCE)was the elder sister of Roman Emperor Augustus, previously known as Octavian.
Prior to the formation of the Roman Empire and the ascension of Octavian as Emperor, the Roman general Marcus Antonius married Octavia in the midst of a civil war. Marcus did so in order to appease the senate in Rome in light his relationship to Queen Cleopatra of Egypt, who was previously the lover of Gaius Julius Caesar. Eventually, Antony repudiated Octavia for Cleopatra, much to the dismay of the Roman elite.[1]
