Manetho was an Egyptian priest and historian who lived during the 3rd century BCE. He was known for being the author of the work Aegyptiaca or History of Egypt, which contained the chronology of the reigns of the pharaohs of Egypt.

In his work, Manetho documented the reign of Sneferu, who built three pyramids;the Meidum Pyramid, the Bent Pyramid, the Red Pyramid and hid three artifacts in each of them. These artifacts, when placed in the pyramidion at the tip of the Red Pyramid, would show the location of Sneferu's vault of knowledge beneath an old temple ruin.

In the 1st century BCE, Manetho's documentation of Sneferu's secrets caught the interest of Merkes, an Egyptian scholar would later enlisted the help of the Medjay, Bayek, to solve the mystery in 48 BCE.
