Ma'bad was an Iraqi man who lived in a village in eastern Baghdad in the 860s.

In the 860s, Ma'bad and his fellow villagers welcomed Chinese merchants while he concocted a plan to steal one of their wares to sell for a profit between him and his cohorts. However, his plan backfired as his cohorts stole a vase containing a toxic aroma, which led to his fellow villagers dying while others fled their village. When the Alamut Hidden One Basim Ibn Ishaq passed by the village, Ma'bad spoke to him about the village being plagued by a evil spirit. However, after Basim's investigation, the Hidden One told him the truth while Ma'bad realized what he has done and how he was truly responsible for many deaths and the loss of his village. Shocked, he was left alone to self-reflect on his actions.[1]
