Lu Yi

Revision as of 04:31, 25 March 2023 by imported>Sol Pacificus (For Chinese names, the recommended practice for subsequent mentions is full name when given name is just 1 syllable (e.g. Cao Cao, Liu Bei, etc.) & only given name when it's 2 or more syllables (e.g. Lushan). Conveniently, this is also the practice in the historical texts. Exceptions may apply for big name recent figures like Mao Zedong. (Broader guideline is that it's case-by-case based on what's most intuitive. We say "Desmond" instead of "Miles", but "Machiavelli" instead of Niccolo.))

Lu Yi (盧奕; died 756) was a Tang official who served as Imperial Censor in Luoyang during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong.

Lu Yi, along with the regent Li Cheng and the judge Jiang Qing, were the highest authority in the eastern capital. Following the capture of the city by An Lushan and the Yeluohe, Lu Yi and the two officials refused to submit to Lushan's rule and were thus executed by beheading. Lushan then sent the envoy Duan Ziguang to bring the officials' heads to Pingyuan County's Grand Protector Yan Zhenqing to force him into submission.[1]
