Lagertha was a Norse shieldmaiden from what is now Norway who was the one-time wife of the Viking leader Ragnar Lodbrok. Through her relationship with Ragnar, she had a son named Halfdan.

As a Viking in her own right, Lagertha possessed a battleaxe that she often used in battles. At some point, the axe wound up in an abandoned settlement near Hadrian's Wall in what is now Yorkshire, England.[1]
